New Reebok Talkin’ Krazy Shoes Give Ballers Their Own Whiteboard

For basketball players, sneakers can act as mobile whiteboards where you can write messages for inspiration or to taunt the opposition. Now Reebok has caught on to the double-duty your high tops do on the blacktop with the new Talkin’ Krazy shoe, which features a whiteboard-like surface and comes with a dry erase marker. According to Slam Online, these shoes come out today and MSRP comes out to about $80, which is well below the triple digit figures you’d pay for other high-profile brands.

So will they be a hit? I remember back in sixth grade when I harassed my mom into getting me Reebok Pumps, the shoes with the squeezable button on the tongue that tightened the fit. Those were definitely a classic and somewhat elaborate gimmick, which makes me wonder whether a markerboard surface is interesting enough to draw in a generation accustomed to XBOXes and iPhones. On the other hand, the Talkin’ Krazy may do well with creative types looking to send a message with every step they take. And with current sports stars like Terrell Owens using Sharpies as part of their scoring celebrations, maybe the youth are secretly seeking their own way to emulate their heroes. Either way, it’s an interesting concept that may just catch on among ballers of all ages.
