Magic Whiteboard Aims to Flip the Script on Flipcharts

Flipchart Pads provide a space-saving place to quickly sketch out an idea, then turn the page and move on to the next one. But as individuals and businesses look to reduce waste in an effort go green, eco-friendly self-adhesive whiteboards sound like the perfect product for manufacturers to develop and market for the future. Fortunately for consumers in the UK, the future is now thanks to a new whiteboard-flipchart called Magic Whiteboard. The inventors intend to gain nationwide exposure for their creation on a BBC TV show called Dragons’ Den, where they’ll attempt to sell their idea to high-profile businesspeople in front of an audience of millions.

According to the website, Magic Whiteboard is a statically-charged portable roll of polypropylene film that sticks to almost any hard surface for several months on its own. You can write and erase like you would with a dry erase whiteboard, although you’re advised to use markerboard cleaner for stubborn smudges. Besides its self-adhesive whiteboard-like properties, a roll consists of 25 perforated sheets with a combined length of 20 meters, so you can write a lot without having to stop and erase, which sounds like a nice alternative to a disposable flipchart. Magic Whiteboard is reusable, recyclable and even comes in a version with gridlines, sort of like a greener graphic markerboard. This new product costs £29.99 per roll, or around $59.50 (US). It’s definitely a product to watch, although hopefully the static charge adhesive won’t shock anyone before it hits our shores.

There is another supplier who offers this product cheaper than the above source. They can be found at http://www.MagicFlipChart.co.uk

Since I'm in the US, I haven't had the chance to watch Dragon's Den, but there are a couple possibilities I can think of off the top of my head. Maybe the other two suppliers you mentioned sell variations on a somewhat similar product. They could also be retailers selling Magic Whiteboard through the original inventors/company. Either way, I'm sure the potential investors have looked into it and would've backed out by now if anything looked suspicious. But if you or anyone does hear about any potential controversy (or can elaborate more on this issue), feel free to respond.

In the den they claimed to be the only U.K. supplier. I know of at least two others, One in Brighton and the other in Surrey. I thought this was a condition of Theo when he bought into them that they were the only one selling this product ?
